At the corner of my eyes, I caught a glimpse of red and white. It’s a flag .. our flag in front of our house … it’s waving at the middle of the mast. Then I remember, today I saw the burial of a great man … Gus Dur …

This new year’s eve I would like to say .. thank you Gus .. thanks to teach me about humanity … thanks to show me that we’re are equal .. we’re all human being regardless of the color and believes … we’re all living at the same lovely earth .. Good bye Gus .. may you rest in peace and hopefully our next generation can benefit from your wisdom.

In short … a movie too beautiful to be missed … Udah liat kesekian kali, mo versi 3D, dvd rip, HD, tetep ajah terharu ..  film animasi ini worth an academy award … semoga …

Film tentang Carl (Edward Asner) yang ingin memenuhi janjinya pada mendiang istrinya, Ellie,  untuk berpetualang ke Paradise Falls. Dalam petualangannya ia ditemani Russel si pramuka (Jordan Nagai) dan bertemu dengan Dug (Bob Peterson) si anjing lugu, Charles Muntz (Christopher Plummer) sang adventurer yang mengilhami Carl dan Ellie. Dalam pemanfaatan 3d stereo-nya, Up tidak terbawa dengan klise-klise seperti melempar barang ke kamera, dll. Up memanfaatkannya untuk menambah kedalaman dalam visual-nya.

Up di-komandani oleh Pete Docter yg juga memandu Monsters.Inc.

Moon Over Bourbon Street – Sting

Minggu pagi, seperti biasa kurang kerjaan, ubek2 lagu lama … Pertama denger/liat lagu ini di video Bring on the Night, live performance-nya Sting di Paris dengan group-nya yang asli Jazz semua (Branford Marsalis, Kenny Kirkland, Darryl Jones, Omar Hakim) setelah mengeluarkan album The Dream of the Blue Turtles. Terkesan banget dengan visualisasi-nya yang mendokumentasikan kelahiran anak Sting di tengah2 jadwal tour-nya.

RDP admin

Bagi yg sering mengurusi server dan juga banyak workstations, plus masih berkutat dengan windows (ya .. ya .. ya .. windoze sux), pasti sering memakai RDP (Remote Desktop).

Udah berapa lama dipusingin oleh win2k3 server yang selalu bikin session baru atau lain bila tersambung. Masalahnya, di server itu jalan aplikasi yang sering harus di restart, busuknya lagi … itu aplikasi hanya nongol di session/ID 0 sajah. Jadi sering harus bolak-balik ke kulkas (ruang server) hanya untuk maintenance itu aplikasi. Tapi masih oke lah karena itung2 olah-raga ..

Masalah besar muncul waktu liburan seperti ini, tim IT ternyata kabur semuwa … nah yang masih kerja teriak-teriak karena itu aplikasi minta restart. Waks …

Ngobrol bentar dengan temen yg bernama google … nemu calon-solusi .. katanya waktu jalankan RDP (mstsc.exe) pergunakan switch /console untuk akses session/ID 0. Coba-coba berapa kali .. lho kok masih dapet ID lain ?? panggil lagi si gugel, interogasi lagi. Usut punya usut, switch /console sudah tidak ada lagi sejak XP SP3 karena pertimbangan sekuriti. Itu laman yg mengusulkan, setelah dibaca lagi tertanggal tahun 2003 .. Alamak !

Akhirnya ketemu juga switch-nya untuk RDP versi terakhir .. seluruh switch bisa di cek dengan menjalankan “mstsc.exe /?” di command prompt. Untuk akses ID 0, perlu menggunakan switch /admin …. untuk lengkapnya “mstsc.exe /admin /v:[servername]“

Sudah di tes, dan sudah berhasil .. hore … (joged2) …

Satu lagi dari Dreamworks Animation.

DA memang mencoba untuk sangat produktif menghasilkan film2 animasi dan nampaknya mereka cukup berhasil dengan usahanya. Apakah hasilnya menjadi blockbuster ? Itu lain lagi.

Seperti biasa film animasi ini menggunakan nama2 terkenal untuk pengisi suaranya. Reese Witherspoon (Ginormica), Seth Rogen (B.O.B), Hugh Laurie (Dr. Cockroach Ph.D), Kiefer Sutherland (Gen. W.R. Monger), Rainn Wilson (Gallaxhar), dan masih banyak lagi.

Fast and Furious

New Model, Original parts

Seri ke 4 dari franchise Fast and Furious (setelah The Fast and The Furious, 2 Fast 2 Furious, dan The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift). Film ini mencoba mengumpulkan tokoh2 lamanya dengan time-frame di antara dan/atau bersamaan dengan FnF: TD. Dengan tag line : New model, Original parts; tokoh2 lama dari FnF 1 (dan 3) dikumpulkan. Dominic Toretto (Vin Diesel), Brian O’Conner (Paul Walker), Mia Toretto (Jordana Brewster), Letty (Michelle Rodriguez) dan sekilas Han (Sung Kang).

Digambarkan 5 tahun setelah FnF 1, secara tidak sengaja Dom dan Brian harus bekerja sama untuk menumpas gembong narkotika besar (Campos). Mereka disatukan oleh musuh yang sama. Dari FnF 1 sebenarnya Dom memang tidak pernah digambarkan sebagai evil character, tetapi dia memang memilih jalan hidup berseberangan dengan hukum. Bryan sendiri masih terombang-ambing antara keinginannya di sisi hukum atau lebih baik menyeberang.

Watchmen

Who’s watching the Watchmen ?

Bbrp minggu lalu, aku mendapat isu ada kemungkinan Watchmen tidak beredar di Indonesia karena nyangkut di LSF. Terlepas dari benar-tidak, karena minggu lalu ada kesempatan, aku menyeberang ke tetangga dan menontonnya di sana.

‘Watchmen’ berawal dari sebuah novel-grafis (komik) yg ditulis oleh Alan Moore. Film/komik ini bercerita tentang sekelompok ksatria bertopeng (masked-heroes) yang melawan kejahatan di alternate-history tahun 1985 di mana presiden AS masa itu masih Richard Nixon (term ke empat). Masa itu adalah masa dimana perang dingin antara AS dan Rusia memuncak dengan ancaman perang nuklir. Saat itu sebenarnya telah diundangkan (Keene-Act) yang melarang masked-vigilante kecuali yg diakui dan dikontrol pemerintah. Beberapa orang ksatria bertopeng ini memutuskan untuk muncul kembali dan bergabung setelah seorang rekan mereka terbunuh dan mereka bertekad untuk membuka tabir misteri yg melatar-belakanginya. Hanya saja, di penghujung perjuangan, mereka menemukan plot yg ternyata lebih besar dan lebih mengerikan.

Life on Mars

Film seri BBC yg tayang pertama tahun 2006. Beberapa waktu lalu liat di toko DVD (ya .. ya .. ya .. b@j@kan ), nampaknya kok menarik jadi beli. Serial Life on Mars hanya berjalan 2 season. Serial ini berkisah tentang seorang polisi Manchester yang tertabrak mobil pada saat sedang menyelediki suatu kasus. Pada saat ia terbangun, dia terbangun di tahun 1973 masih sebagai DI Sam Tyler (diperankan oleh John Simm), masih sebagai polisi di Manchester yang baru ditransfer dari Hyde. Serial ini berkisah tentang pengalaman-nya sebagai polisi di tahun 1973 bersama atasan/partner-nya DCI Gene Hunt (Philip Glenister), teman wanitanya WPC Annie Cartwright (Liz White), dan teman2 se-unitnya Ray, Chris, Phyllis dan Nelson, seorang bartender di pub tempat mereka berkumpul di saat tak bertugas.

Gabriel

Film ini udah lama (2007) tapi baru kulihat di TV satelit. Gabriel bercerita tentang salah satu archangel yang diturunkan untuk mengembalikan ‘cahaya’ ke purgatory yang dikuasai ‘kegelapan’. Beberapa archangel lain sudah dikirimkan tetapi tak ada yg berhasil. Ada yg dikalahkan dan di’potong’ sayapnya dan ada yg lebih memilih mengucilkan dirinya. Para acrhangel terdahulu kesulitan karena mereka berwujud manusia pada saat diturunkan. Memang mereka memiliki kelebihan tetapi akan berkurang bila digunakan, dan tak bisa di ‘isi-ulang’ karena kegelapan. Selain itu sebagai manusia, mereka pun tak terhindar dari sifat-sifat dasar manusia seperti emosi, nafsu, cinta, dll.

Kalau kita coba googling tentang archangel, maka ada beberapa perbedaan antara nama-nama archangel di film ini. Archangel di film ini adalah Gabriel, Michael, Raphael, Amitiel, Uriel, Ithuriel dan lawannya adalah Sammael, Asmodeus, Lilith, Ahriman, Balan dan Moloch. Dari hasil googling yg singkat, aku tak pernah mendapatkan nama Amitiel, sementara ada beberapa sumber yg menyebutkan Sammael sebagai salah satu archangel. Nama yg sama (Sammael) juga pernah muncul di film Hellboy dengan pengertian yg berbeda. Maklumlah … namanya juga fiksi.

Underworld: Rise of the Lycans

Adalah prequel. Mirip sewaktu akan nonton Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith, agak malas karena udah bisa menduga ending nya.

Hari Sabtu itu Mal di Batam agak sepi, entah kenapa. Kami bertiga datang jam 1430 untuk beli tiket jam 1515, dan mendapati antrian loket studio XXI sepi. Kami masih bisa leluasa memilih tempat duduk.

Seperti biasa, Studio 21 memulai film lebih cepat dari jadwal karena mereka berpatokan pada jam mereka sendiri yang entah kenapa sudah hampir 4 tahun ini makin cepat. Jadwal film 1515, dan hari ini film sesungguhnya sudah mulai jam 15.03.

Kembali ke filmnya sendiri. Underworld: Rise of the Lycans menceritakan latar belakang atau sejarah dari 2 film pendahulunya (Underworld dan Underworld: Evolution) yang sebenarnya sempat diperlihatkan sebagai penggalan ingatan Lucien di Underworld yang pertama.

Reign over me

Memang film lama. Selama ini agak males mau nonton, karena aku emang ga terlalu suka film drama, ditambah lagi dengan Adam Sandler yang biasanya berperan di film komedi. What ? Adam Sandler playing drama ??? …

Akhirnya menikmati film ini di TV satelit. Tadinya hanya karena ngga ada pilihan yg lebih baik, sementara jam bio-ku sedang bergeser hanya gara2 begadangan 4 malam.

Ternyata film ini bagus (surprisingly) … Adam Sandler berhasil melepaskan stereotype komedinya walaupun kadang2 masih muncul pada saat dia harus terbawa emosi (so typical Sandler style).

Film ini berkisah tentang 2 teman lama (ex-college-room-mate) yang tak sengaja bertemu lagi, Charlie Fineman (Sandler) dan Alan Johnson (Don Cheadle). 2 orang yang masing2 memiliki masalah sendiri. Charlie yang hidup di dunianya sendiri untuk melupakan kematian istri dan anak2nya pada kejadian 9/11. Alan yang kehilangan jati dirinya dengan rutinitas hidupnya. Film ini ternyata didukung banyak bintang yang kukenal seperti Donald Sutherland, Liv Tyler, Safron Burrows, dan Jada Pinket Smith. Penampilan Donald Sutherland yang hanya sebentar (sebagai hakim) sempat mencuri perhatian. Sayang karakter yg lain tidak terlalu banyak tergali walaupun mereka tampil bagus. Pace film ini cukup lambat tapi tidak sampai membosankan.

overall .. bagus .. walaupun musti mikir lagi kalo diajak nonton lagi.
